Ten Bears Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Ten members of the Bridgewater State University field hockey team have been selected to the 2019 Zag Sports/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad.

The NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Juniors Olivia Ahlman (Halifax, Mass.), Kim Kowalick (Groveland, Mass.) and Meghan Welch (Hubbardston, Mass.); sophomores Victoria Camara (Westport, Mass.), Aidan Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.), Megan Sharon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Katie Swart (Bridgewater, Mass.); and freshmen Haley Nickerson (Carver, Mass.), Emma Schoonover (Somerset, Mass.) and Olivia Sheehan (Hanson, Mass.) all garnered the honor for Bridgewater State.

All told, 1,943 student-athletes from 157 Division III institutions earned recognition on the 2019 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Wesleyan University led all institutions with 25 National Academic Squad selections. Johns Hopkins University and Williams College tied for the second-most with 24 selections each.
