Field Hockey Blanked by Anna Maria, 2-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Junior forward Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) broke a scoreless tie in the 60th minute to lift visiting Anna Maria College to a 2-0 victory over Bridgewater State University in non-conference field hockey action on Thursday evening at Swenson Field.

Senior forward Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) added an insurance marker in the 63rd minute for the AMCATS who even their season record at 6-6. The host Bears slip to 4-6 on the year with the loss.

Dalbec ripped a shot from directly in front of the net into a wide open right side with 10:20 left in regulation.  The scoring strike, her team-leading 12th of the season, came off an assist from sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.).

Less than three minutes later, Lowe converted a long crossing pass from junior forward Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) tucking a shot inside the left post.

Sophomore Kaylyn Allahyarian (Norwell, Mass.) played well between the pipes for the Bears in the setback as she made a number of impressive saves to keep the game within reach. Allahyarian finished with seven stops on the evening.

Junior netminder Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) made six saves to post her fourth win and first solo shutout of the season for the AMCATS.

Anna Maria held an 11-9 shot advantage for the game, while Bridgewater finished with a decided 14-4 edge in penalty corners.

The Bears travel to Worcester State University on Saturday morning for an 11 o'clock Little East Conference game with the Lancers.  The AMCATS host Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Saint Joseph's College on Saturday evening at six.
