Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Junior forward Kerry D'Ambroise (Lowell, MA) scored with no time remaining in regulation to lift the Plymouth State University field hockey team to a 1-0 victory over Little East Conference rival Bridgewater State this afternoon in Bridgewater.

The goal by D'Ambroise was scored off a penalty corner as play continued despite no time being on the clock.  Senior midfielder Ashley Gutowski (Conway, NH) was credited with the assist on the game-winning goal.  Play continues in field hockey after time expires on a penalty corner until a goal is scored or the defense is able to get the ball outside the halo.

Despite the loss, Bridgewater State still managed to secure the final spot in next week's Little East Tournament which gets underway on Tuesday.  The eighth seeded Bears (7-10, 5-6 LEC) will take on top seed Keene State College.  Plymouth State, winners of six straight games, will be seeded second at the tournament as the Panthers improved to 11-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

Freshman goaltender Elysa Sedgley (Hopkinton, NH) turned aside 13 shots to record her sixth shutout of the season.  Bridgewater State sophomore Katie Weber (Arlington, MA) made seven saves in goal for the Bears.

Bridgewater held a 15-11 advantage in shots for the game, while Plymouth had the edge in penalty corners, 8-5.  Each team registered a defensive save with Plymouth State junior Melinda Rozumek (Salem, NH) picking up her fifth of the season and BSC junior Kelly Downs (Hanover, MA) notching her fourth.

Prior to the game, the Bears honored seniors Kelly Duchemin (Mashpee, MA), Ashley Nardone (West Yarmouth, MA) and Stacey Takis (Georgetown, MA) who were playing in their final home game.
