Box Score

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA -- Junior midfielder Kylie Treat (Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) scored three goals and sophomore forward Stephanie Kinchla (Falmouth, MA/Falmouth HS/Quinnipiac) scored twice to lead the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team to a 5-0 victory over visiting Bridgewater State in the 2008 Little East Conference opener at Cressy Field Saturday.

Treat scored all three of her goals in the second half. She twice picked up loose balls in front of the net, then capped her hat trick when she converted a pass from senior forward Rebecca Stephens (North Andover, MA/North Andover HS) with 12:03 remaining.

Kinchla scored the first two goals for the Corsairs. She took a pass from sophomore midfielder Becca Festinger (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS) and slid a shot past BSC goalkeeper Katie Weber barely seven minutes into the game, then scored a nearly identical goal with 3:56 remaining in the first half.

The Corsairs out shot the Bears, 20-10, and junior goalie Seana Golden (Somerset, MA/Bishop Stang HS) recorded her third shutout of the season, making five saves, a few of them difficult. "Seana was fantastic," said Castonguay. BSC goalie Katie Weber made nine saves.

UMass Dartmouth improved to 4-0 with the victory, while Bridgewater fell to 1-2 with the defeat. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Trinity Wednesday evening. The Bears visit Wheaton Tuesday.
