KEENE, N.H. -- The Keene State field hockey
team broke open a close game with four unanswered goals in the
second half on the way to posting a 6-2 Little East Conference
victory over Bridgewater State College at Owl Athletic Complex on
Saturday.
Erin Dallas (Keene, NH) led the Owls (5-3, 2-1
LEC) with two goals and two assists. Elizabeth
Rand (Peterborough, NH) also added a pair of goals.
The teams traded goals in the first half with Carly
Benning (Brewster, MA), who scored just 30 seconds into
the game, and Rand scoring for the Owls. BSC countered with goals
from Kelly Duchemin (Mashpee, MA) and
Katie Balboni (Townsend, MA).
Dallas added two goals and Rand and Kat Trimmer
(Hanover, NH) also found the back of the net in the second half.
Dallas leads KSC in scoring with four goals and six assists for 14
points.
Jennifer McDougall (Avon, CT) had two saves for
KSC before giving way to Vikki Stoessel (Derry,
NH), who made one save, late in the first half. Nicole Downs
(Hanover, MA) finished with 13 saves for BSC (4-2, 1-2 LEC) which
was off to its best start since the 1995 season.
The Owls travel to Westfield State on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
Bridgewater is at Salem State on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
