BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore running back Isaiah Wright has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Rookie of the Week.

Wright rushed for a career-high 120 yards on 23 carries and caught five passes for 27 yards in the Bears’ 34-24 New England Bowl victory over Catholic University. The Worcester, Massachusetts native averaged 5.2 yards per carry in his first collegiate start.

In nine games this season, Wright rushed for 307 yards and a touchdown on 54 attempts as he averaged 5.7 yards per carry. He added nine receptions for 44 yards and three kickoff returns for 36 yards.

The BSU football team finished the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 7-4 including a 6-2 MASCAC mark. The Bears capped off the regular season with a 10-0 Cranberry Bowl win over Mass. Maritime before posting the 34-24 victory over Catholic in the New England Bowl.
