BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman wide receiver and punt returner Drew Donovan has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Rookie of the Week.

Donovan returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown in the Bears’ 42-7 MASCAC win on the road over Westfield State University. The Abington, Massachusetts native averaged 16.5 yards on four punt returns and also caught two passes for ten yards.

In six games this season, Donovan has returned 12 punts for 160 yards (13.3 avg) and caught seven passes for 68 yards and a score. He currently leads the MASCAC in punt returns, punt return yards and punt return touchdowns.

Donovan also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors on October 9th.

The BSU football team is currently 4-3 on the season and tied for second in the MASCAC standings with a 4-1 conference mark. Winners of four straight games, the Bears travel to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday (noon) for a key MASCAC tilt with the Corsairs.
