BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman receiver and punt returner Drew Donovan has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Rookie of the Week.

Donovan caught four passes for 46 yards and his first collegiate touchdown in the Bears’ 45-0 MASCAC win over Worcester State University this past weekend. The Abington, Massachusetts native hauled in a 24-yard TD pass and also averaged 10.3 yards on three punt returns with a long of 17.

In five games this season, Donovan has returned eight punts for 94 yards (11.8 avg) and caught five passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. He is tied for the MASCAC lead in punt returns and ranks second in punt return yards. 

Winners of three straight games, the BSU football team is currently 3-3 on the season and 3-1 in the MASCAC. Following a bye week, the Bears will travel to Westfield State University on Saturday, October 22nd for a two o'clock MASCAC game with the Owls.
