Jack Lavanchy Named to D3football.com All-East Region Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior wide receiver Jack Lavanchy has been selected to the 2018 D3football.com All-East Region Second Team.

Lavanchy hauled in 97 passes for 1,236 yards and 13 touchdowns in 11 games during the 2018 campaign as he broke his own BSU single-season mark for receptions. The Walpole, Massachusetts product led the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

On the national stage, Lavanchy currently ranks third in all of Division III in both receiving yards and receptions. He is also tied for 13th in receiving touchdowns.

In three seasons with the Bears, Lavanchy amassed 225 receptions for 2,982 yards and 29 touchdowns. He is the program's all-time leader in both receptions and receiving yards, and is tied for second all-time in receiving touchdowns.

Lavanchy also holds the Bears' single-game records for catches (14) and receiving yards (254). He set both marks in 2017 against Western Connecticut State.

The BSU football team finished the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 8-3 including a 6-2 MASCAC mark. The Bears capped off the season with a 34-19 victory over Salve Regina University in the New England Bowl.

The D3football.com All-East Region selection marks the fourth postseason honor for Lavanchy in 2018. He was named the MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year and was one of eight Bears named to the All-MASCAC Team as he garnered first team honors for the second straight season. Lavanchy was also selected to the New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team for the second consecutive year.

Joining Lavanchy on this year's D3football.com All-East Region Team from the MASCAC are Travon Holder and Zach Howard of Westfield State and Worcester State's Jacob Maher.

This marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons that the Bears have had a player named to the All-East Region Team and 11th time since 2005. Eleven different Bears have earned the honor with Mike Sirignano (2005, 2006), Jeff Smith (2008, 2009), Paul Melicharek (2010, 2012) and Matthew Green (2013, 2014) each receiving the accolade multiple times.
