Melicharek Highlights BSU's Four NEFC All-Bogan Division Selections

2010 NEFC All-Division Teams

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Sophomore defensive tackle Paul Melicharek (Glen Rock, N.J.) highlights Bridgewater State's four representatives on the 2010 New England Football Conference (NEFC) All-Bogan Division Team which was announced today by NEFC Director of Media Relations, Roger Crosley.

Melicharek was selected to the All-Bogan Division First Team, while senior safety John Farroba (North Attleboro, Mass.), junior linebacker Chris Chamberlin (South Easton, Mass.) and junior tight end Brendan Sweed (Foxboro, Mass.) earned second team honors.

Melicharek recorded 45 tackles (41 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss and forced two fumbles as he started all ten games for the Bears.  He led the team in both tackles for loss and forced fumbles and ranked third in tackles and solo stops.

Farroba was the top defensive back for the Bears before a week eight injury cut short his senior season. He notched 35 tackles (28 solo) and led the team in interceptions with three and passes defended with seven despite missing the final two games.

In 30 games at Bridgewater State, Farroba tallied seven interceptions and 13 pass breakups for 27 passes defended while also accumulating 121 tackles.

Chamberlin made an immediate impact in his first season at Bridgewater as he led the squad in tackles with 69 and solo stops with 54.  He also finished with six tackles for loss and forced a fumble in ten starts.

Sweed, the Bears' lone offensive representative, caught three passes for 42 yards in eight games.  His solid blocking ability helped the Bears' accumulate 1,678 yards on the ground and 11 rushing touchdowns as well as 2,586 yards of total offense.

The Bridgewater State football team finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 5-5 with a 3-4 mark in NEFC Bogan Division play.
