Equestrian Wraps Up the Fall Season at the ABD Equestrian Show

NORFOLK, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2023-2024 schedule on Sunday at the ABD Equestrian Farm show hosted by Boston College. The Bears finished fifth in the team standings at the show.

Junior Aobha O'Rourke (County Clare, Ireland ) had a great ride with Finn, a 17.2hh grey Irish sport horse, in open over fences and finished fifth. This is O'Rourke's last show with the team and will be traveling back home to Ireland after the semester.

Sophomore Keelin Shanley (Marshfield, Mass.) rode Waffles, a 15.3hh chestnut quarter horse gelding, in open flat and checked in at fourth. Shanley then had an amazing ride on Gus, a 17.2hh liver chestnut warmblood gelding, in intermediate over fences and won the class.

Freshman Abigail Abbott (Wareham, Mass.) also rode Gus in intermediate flat and posted a third-place showing. Abbot then hopped on Ophelia, a 16.2hh bay mare, in intermediate over fences and placed second.

Sophomore Rianne Wyckstrom (Hudson, Mass.) guided Keno, a 14.2 appaloosa cross, in intermediate over fences and finished fourth. Wyckstrom also rode Pablo, a 14.3 paint cross gelding in intermediate on the flat, and also finishe fourth.

Junior captain Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) directed Goose, a 16.3hh grey Irish sport horse, in limit over fences and finished fourth.

Sophomore Hannah Arsenault (Attleboro, Msss.) held the reins of Riddle, a 14.2hh quarter horse/welsh gelding, in limit flat and checked in at fifth. 

Freshman Natalia BarNoy (Londonderry, N.H.) steered Cisco, a 17hh grey appendix gelding, in limit flat and finished fourth.

Freshman Julia Carnes (Middleboro, Mass.) hopped on Regatta, a 16.2hh paint mare, in novice and finished fourth.

Freshman Jillian Wenners (Plymouth, Mass.) ended the day with an outstanding ride on Ophelia, a 16.2hh bay mare, in pre novice and earned the blue ribbon.
