Equestrian Places Sixth at Mor Linn Farm Show

WALPOLE, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team competed on Saturday at the Mor Linn Farm Show in Walpole hosted by Stonehill College.

The Bears placed sixth sixth overall in the team standings at the show.

Junior Aobha O'Rourke (County Clare, Ireland ) rode Sarah, a 15.2hh grey mare, in open over fences and finished fifth.

Sophomore Keelin Shanley (Marshfield, Mass.) jumped on Nysa, a 15hh paint mare in open flat, and placed second. Shanley also rode Sarah in intermediate over fences and notched a third place showing.

Sophomore Rianne Wyckstrom (Hudson, Mass.) hopped on Cooper, a 15.1hh chestnut quarter horse, in intermediate over fences and placed fourth. Wyckstrom then guided Octavius, a 16hh dark brown warmblood gelding, in intermediate on the flat and finished fourth.

Freshman Abigail Abbott (Wareham, Mass.) also rode Octavius in intermediate flat and placed fifth. Abbott also directed Navarra, a 15.2hh grey draft mare, in intermediate over fences and checked in at fifth.

Junior captain Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) rode Jazz, a 14.1hh buckskin pony mare, in limit over fences and placed sixth.

Senior captain Samantha Burke (Weymouth, Mass.) guided Butter, a 15hh palomino gelding, in limit flat and posted a third place showing.

Sophomore Hannah Arsenault (Attleboro, Mass.) rode also rode Butters in limit flat and finished fifth.

Freshman Alyson McKeon (Worcester, Mass.) jumped on Octavius, a 16hh dark brown warmblood gelding, in limit flat and placed fourth.

Freshman Jillian Wenners (Plymouth, MA) finished the day with an amazing ride on Jazz, a 14.1hh buckskin pony mare, in pre-novice and earned a first-place ribbon.

The Bears are back in action next Saturday (Nov. 4) when they compete at the Turning Point Show Stables in East Kingston, New Hampshire.
