Equestrian Places Fourth at ABD Equestrian Farm Show

NORFOLK, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University equestrian recorded a fourth-place finish at the ABD Equestrian Farm Show on Sunday in Norfolk. Bridgewater State and Babson College co-hosted the show.

The Bears held Senior Day festivities at the show as senior captains Ashley Drake (Suffield, Conn.) and Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) and classmate Samantha Burke (Weymouth, Mass.) were honored.

Drake placed second in limit over fences on Elvis, a 17.2hh bay warmblood cross gelding. She then hopped on Corbin, a 16.3hh bay gelding, in limit flat and placed sixth.

Root posted a five-place performance in limit over fences on Dude, a 15.2hh bay Mustang gelding. She then guided Rookie, a 14.3hh liver chestnut Connemara gelding, and placed fourth.

Burke rode Gus in limit over fences and placed fourth.

Freshman Addison Prada (West Barnstable, Mass.) placed second in open flat on Ophelia, a 16.1hh bay warmblood mare. Prada also steered Gus, a 17.2hh liver chestnut warmblood, and placed fifth in the event.

Freshman Rianne Wyckstrom (Hudson, Mass.) rode Gus over fences in intermediate and placed fifth. Wyckstrom then hopped on Leo, a 16hh bay quarter horse gelding in intermediate flat and placed third.

Sophomore Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) notched a second-place finish in limit flat on Mantra, 16.1hh bay thoroughbred cross gelding.

Junior Janelle Gibson (Brockton, Mass.) placed second in novice on Ringo, a 15.2hh paint quarter horse gelding.

Freshman Hannah Arsenault (Attleboro, Mass.) rode Manhattan in limit flat and placed sixth.

The Bears will wrap up regular season competition on Sunday, March 19th at the Mor Linn Farm in Walpole. Stonehill College is hosting the show.
