Equestrian Competes at Turning Point Show Stables

EAST KINGSTON, N.H. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team competed on Saturday at the Turning Point Show Stables in East Kingston, New Hampshire. Endicott College hosted the show. The Bears finished tied for seventh place in the team standings.

Senior Samantha Burke (Weymouth, Mass.) rode Fenway, 16.2-hand bay warmblood gelding, in her limit flat class and captured top honors in the event. Burke also hopped on Ginger, a 16.1-hand chestnut draft cross, in her limit over fences class and placed sixth.

Sophomore Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) rode Mabee, a 16.1-hand black thoroughbred gelding, in her limit flat class and earned a second-place ribbon.

Freshman Addison Prada (West Barnstable) rode Navarra, a 15.2-hand grey draft mare, in open fences and picked up a third-place ribbon. Prada then rode Fenway in her open fences class and placed fourth.

Junior Janelle Gibson (Brockton, Mass.) made her debut on Victor, 15.3-hand bay thoroughbred gelding, in her novice flat class and finished third.

Freshman Rianne Wyckstrom (Hudson, Mass.) hopped on Navarra for intermediate flat and placed third. Wyckstrom then rode Fenway for her intermediate fences class and placed fifth.

Senior captain Ashley Drake (Suffield, Conn.) rode Victor, 15.3-hand bay thoroughbred gelding, and placed fourth in limit fences. Drake also hopped on Goodie, a 15.2-hand quarter horse gelding, in her limit flat class and finished fourth.

Senior captain Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) rode Ivan, a 16-hand chestnut gelding, in her limit fences class and placed fourth. Root added a fourth-place performance for her limit flat class atop Victor.

Freshman Hannah Arsenault (Attleboro, Mass.) rode Ginger in her limit flat class and finished fourth. 

The BSU equestrian team will be back in action on Saturday November 12th when the Bears head to Mor Linn Farm in Walpole, Massachusetts. Stonehill College is hosting the show.
