Equestrian Competes at Century Mill Stables

BOLTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team competed on Sunday at Century Mill Stables in Bolton, Massachusetts. Bentley University hosted the show. The Bears finished in sixth place in the team standings.

Sophomore Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass,) rode Lantana, a 16.2 hand bay warmblood mare, in limit flat and earned a second-place ribbon.

Freshman Rianne Wyckstrom (Hudson, Mass.) rode Big, a 17.2 hand bay Dutch warmblood gelding, in intermediate fences and earned a third-place ribbon. Wyckstrom also rode Star, a 17 hand dark bay warmblood gelding, in intermediate flat and placed fourth.

Senior captain Ashley Drake (Suffield, Conn.) rode Lantana in limit over fences and placed fifth. Drake also rode Summer, 16 hand chestnut warmblood mare, on the flat and garnered a third-place ribbon.

Senior Samantha Burke (Weymouth, Mass.) rode Fergus, a 15.2 hand buckskin quarter horse gelding, in limit fences and finished fourth in the event. Burke also rode Clever, 14.2 hand red roan Appaloosa gelding, in limit flat and placed sixth.

Freshman Addison Prada (West Barnstable, Mass.) rode Luke, a 16.2 hand bay warmblood gelding, on the flat and placed sixth. Prada also rode Rip, a 14.1 hand buckskin pony gelding, over fences and placed fifth.

Senior captain Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) rode Fergus in limit fences and placed fifth. Root also rode Diamond, a 14.1 hand Pinto/Welsh cross mare, in limit flat and placed sixth.

Freshman Hannah Arsenault (Attleboro, Mass.) rode North, a 15.2 hand grey Hanoverian mare, in limit flat and got reserve.

The BSU equestrian team will be back in action on Saturday November 5th when the Bears head to the Turning Point Show Stables in East Kingston, New Hampshire. Endicott College is hosting the show.
