Equestrian Competes at Mor Lynn Farm

Walpole, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team capped off the opening weekend of the 2021-2022 season on Sunday at Mor Lynn Farm in Walpole, Massachusetts. Stonehill College hosted the show.

Senior captain Madison Elliott (Centerville, Mass.) entered the ring on Frazier, a 16.2 hand bay gelding and placed fourth in open flat. Elliott re-entered the ring later with Frazier once again, placing fifth in the intermediate fences class.

Junior Ashley Crosby (Littleton, Mass.) made her way to the open flat ring on Pasta, a 15.2 hand dark bay mare. She rode her way to a third-place ribbon in the event. Crosby then hopped back on Pasta for her first open fences class and collected a blue first place ribbon.

Freshman Orlaith Delaney (Mansfield, Mass.) entered her intermediate fences class on Riley, a 15.3 chestnut gelding. Delaney jumped a beautiful, yet difficult course resulting in a fourth-place ribbon.

Senior Katherine Ryan (Mendon, Mass.) rode Finn, a 17.2 hand warm blood gelding, in her intermediate flat class. Ryan placed fourth in a very competitive class.

Freshman Natalie Stewart (Warren, Maine) hopped on Goose, a 17 hand grey warmblood gelding, for her limit fences class. Stewart rode to a third for her class. Shortly after she switched to Charlie, a 16.1 hand grey gelding, for her limit flat class and rode to a fifth place finish.

Sophomore Samantha Burke (Weymouth, Mass.) jumped her way through limit fences on Graham Cracker, a 15 hand buckskin gelding. Burke rode confidently to a third place showing in a competitive class.

Junior Ashley Drake (Suffield, Conn.) entered the limit flat class on Bogart, a 16.2 hand bay gelding. Drake rode through the class beautifully and ended with a third-place ribbon.

Junior captain Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) hopped on Caraway, a 17 hand bay gelding. Root rode through a competitive novice class and placed third.

Senior Abby Lucas (Pembroke, Mass.) returned to the show ring for the first time this season and rode Charlie, a 16.1 hand grey gelding, through her novice class. Lucas rode beautifully and picked up the Bears second blue ribbon of the day.

Junior Hannah Nezuch (Marlborough, Mass.) rode her way through introductory on Graham Cracker, a 15 hand buckskin gelding. Nezuch trotted her way to fourth.

The BSU equestrian will be back in action on Halloween when the Bears head to Century Mill Stables in Bolton, Massachusetts. Bentley University and Endicott College are co-hosting the show.
