Matt Josselyn Named to NEIBA All-New England Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate pitcher Matt Josselyn has been selected to the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Division III All-New England Region Two Team.

Josselyn is the Bears' first NEIBA All-New England selection since second baseman Sean Riley in 2013.

New England Region Two features schools from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Little East Conference (LEC), Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) as well as Brandeis University.

Josselyn went 7-2 in 2022 with five complete games and four shutouts in 12 appearances on the mound including 11 starts. The Hanson, Massachusetts product produced a 1.77 earned run average and fanned 69 batters over 71 1/3 innings of work, while opponents batted just .193 against him. Josselyn, who also sported an impressive 0.81 WHIP (walks & hits per innings pitched), fashioned together a BSU record 40 1/3 scoreless inning streak during the season.

Josselyn led the MASCAC in strikeouts, shutouts, WHIP, strikeout to walk ratio (6.90) and walks per nine innings pitched (1.26). He is also tied for the conference lead in games started, tied for second in wins and innings pitched, ranked second in hits allowed per nine innings (6.06) and third in ERA.

On a national level, Josselyn finished the season sixth in all of Division III in WHIP, 13th in complete games, 18th in ERA, 26th in strikeout to walk ratio, and 31st in both walks per nine innings and hits per nine innings.

Josselyn helped the Bears capture their first MASCAC regular season and tournament championships since 2012, and reach the 30-win plateau (30-15) for the fifth time in program history. Bridgewater qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 15th time in program history as the Bears competed at a four-team regional hosted by SUNY Cortland.

In 37 appearances over five season with the Bears including 26 starts, Josselyn has recorded 13 wins, six complete games and four shutouts. He has also fanned 145 batters over 171 1/3 innings of work and sports a career 3.47 ERA.
