Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Senior Kelly LaDow (East Falmouth, MA) connected for a pair of homers and drove in five runs to lead Bridgewater State to a 15-2 nightcap victory over Massachusetts Maritime and complete a sweep of a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field.

In the opening game, senior Brad Koneski (North Dighton, MA) rapped out three hits to back a five-hit complete-game effort on the mound by sophomore Jeff Puopolo (Brockton, MA) as the Bears claimed a 5-2 triumph.

LaDow's second round-tripper of the day highlighted an eight-run fourth frame that broke things open in the second contest for the visiting Bears (15-11, 7-1 MASCAC), while Koneski added a three-run triple for Bridgewater State, which also received three hits and two RBI from senior David Kiloski (Lowell, MA) as well as two hits and a pair of RBI from senior Brendon Elliot (Brockton, MA) as part of a 15-hit attack.  Senior Dave Liffers (Norwell, MA) went the distance to pick up his second win of the season on the mound for the Bears, as he scattered four hits and allowed one earned run while striking out 11.

Freshman Nick Montalto (South Yarmouth, MA) went 3-for-3 in the nightcap setback for the host Buccaneers (7-12, 2-6 MASCAC), which received an RBI single off the bat of senior Tyler Spofford (Sharon Springs, NY) and a run-scoring groundout from freshman Kyle Armstrong (Whitman, MA).  Sophomore Corey Murphy (East Wareham, MA) suffered the setback on the mound for Massachusetts Maritime, as he fanned a pair in 3 2/3 innings of work.

The Buccaneers grabbed a 1-0 third inning lead in the third inning of the opener on a triple by junior Joe Albano (Agawam, MA) and an RBI single by Murphy, but junior Brian Medairos (Brockton, MA) helped give Bridgewater State the lead for good in the fourth with a two-run double as part of a four-run inning, and the Bears added an insurance tally in the seventh on an RBI groundout by sophomore Greg Steele (North Dighton, MA).  Albano's RBI double in the bottom of the inning accounted for the final score, as Puopolo struck out six in a 90-pitch outing to improve to 2-3 on the season.  Junior David Hike (Riverview, FL) allowed four runs and struck out one over six innings in taking the setback on the mound for Massachusetts Maritime, falling to 3-4 on the spring.

The Buccaneers host Coast Guard in a non-league outing on Thursday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Bridgewater State hosts Eastern Connecticut in a non-league contest on Wednesday afternoon in Bridgewater, Mass. beginning at 3:30 p.m.
