COCOA, Fla. - The Bridgewater State College baseball posted their fourth straight win as the Bears defeated Norwich University, 16-1, this afternoon in Cocoa, Florida.

Freshman right-hander Jim Balboni (Townsend, MA) earned his first collegiate victory as he hurled five innings of shutout baseball.  Balboni allowed just one hit, walked three and struck out three.

Balboni got plenty of offensive support as the Bears banged out 19 hits.  Norwich pitchers also issued ten walks and hit two batters.

Senior catcher Kelly LaDow (East Falmouth, MA), junior right-fielder Jeff Poupolo (Brockton, MA) and senior first baseman David Kiloski (Lowell, MA) led BSC's 19-hit attack with three hits apiece.  LaDow finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Poupolo also went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in.  Kiloski had three hits in five at bats and scored a pair of runs.

Junior shortstop Brian Medairos (Brockton, MA) banged out his fifth double of the season as he went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.  Junior third baseman Mark Claffey (Bellingham, MA) also had multiple hits as he finished 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Sophomore left-hander Billy Blaisdell (Chelmsford, MA) worked two innings of scoreless relief giving up just one hit and striking out two.  Freshman right-hander Shawn Tuite (Middleboro, MA) worked a perfect eighth inning.

The Bears (5-2) wrap up their Florida schedule with a doubleheader against Oneonta State University on Thursday starting at 10 AM.
