Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

COCOA, Fla. - The Bridgewater State College baseball team split a doubleheader with Gettysburg College on Monday afternoon in Cocoa, Florida.  The Bears dropped the opener, 3-1, but earned a split of the twinbill with a come-from-behind 4-3 victory in game two.

Gettysburg (1-5) earned its first win of the season in the opener, when sophomore Matt Karis (Southborough, MA) carried a shutout into the seventh inning and finished with an eight-hit complete game as the Bullets recorded the 3-1 victory.

Bridgewater State (2-2) trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth in the nightcap, but used a three-run inning to come away with the win. A two-run triple by senior center fielder J.T. Mooney (North Attleboro, MA) knotted the game at three apiece and sophomore Jeff Poupolo (Brockton, MA) knocked in the winning run with a sacrifice fly to center.

The Bears actually trailed 3-0 in the contest until senior first baseman David Kiloski (Lowell, MA) started the rally with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth.  The four-bagger was Kiloski's third of his career and first since April 29, 2007.

Senior pitcher Jeff Sarahs (Whitman, MA) got the win on the mound for BSC in game two.  Sarahs (1-0) went the distance giving up three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out six.  Senior Chris Liegel (Oak Ridge, NJ) took the loss for Washington College.  Liegel (0-1) also went the distance as he allowed four runs on eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

The Bullets had the tying run on first in the top of the seventh when sophomore Cory Jackmuff (Woodbury, NJ) reached on an error, but Sarahs got a strikeout to end the game.

Senior left fielder Brad Koneski (North Dighton, MA) went 3-for-4 in game one for the Bears and drove in BSC's only run of the game. Kiloski finished 2-for-3 in the opener. He singled and scored on Koneski's RBI single in the top of the seventh.

Poupolo took the loss on the mound for Bridgewater in the opener.  He allowed three runs on six hits in six innings of work with two walks and three strikeouts.

Sophomore third baseman Mark Claffey (Bellingham, MA) and sophomore right fielder Greg Steele (North Dighton, MA) each went 2-for-3 in the nightcap.

Bridgewater will take on Penn. State-Brandywine in a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 10 AM. Gettysburg also returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts SUNY Oneonta in a single nine-inning game at 10 AM.
