Anderson Named MASCAC Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior right-hander Martin Anderson has been selected as the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week.  Anderson shares the honor along with Billy Martin of Mass. Maritime Academy.

Anderson, who hails from Meriden, Connecticut, tossed his second straight complete game shutout over a MASCAC team as the Bears blanked Salem State, 7-0, in the opening game of a doubleheader. Anderson struck out seven batters in the effort as he lowered his ERA on the season to an impressive 1.01.

In 26.2 innings this season, Anderson has struck out 27 batters and walked just six. He is also 2-0 versus MASCAC teams and has not allowed a run in his last 14 innings of work.

Bridgewater State is currently 11-5 on the season and 2-2 in the MASCAC standings.  The Bears have a pair of non-conference games coming up on the road this week against Wheaton and Brandeis, followed by a MASCAC twinbill at Framingham State on Saturday.
