Eight Bears Named to Little East Fall All-Academic Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Eight Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the 2019 Little East Conference (LEC) Fall All-Academic Team which was announced today.

The eight BSU student-athletes include three field hockey players and five representatives from the women's tennis team.

To earn a spot on the LEC Fall All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.

Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are Junior Meghan Welch (Hubbardston, Mass.) and sophomores Victoria Camara (Westport, Mass.) and Aidan Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.). Representing the women’s tennis team are graduate student Rachel Tarantino (Mansfield, Mass.); senior Angelique Gray (Barnstable, Mass.); and juniors Jessica Gaudreau (Hanson, Mass.), Michaela Loring (New Marlborough, Mass.) and Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.).

The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), three BSU teams call the Little East home. Field hockey and women’s tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, and men’s tennis in the spring.
