29 Bears Named to Little East Spring Academic Honor Roll

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Twenty-nine Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the Little East Conference (LEC) Academic Honor Roll for the spring 2021 semester.

The 28 BSU student-athletes include 16 field hockey players, eight representatives from the women's tennis team and five members of the men's tennis squad.

To be named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a semester GPA of 3.00 or better and have been an active member of the team at the conclusion of the season.

Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are senior Meghan Welch (Hubbardston, Mass.); juniors Jillian Ayers (South Hadley, Mass.), Victoria Camara (Westport, Mass.), ReAnna Kenyon (Carver, Mass.), Madison O'Rourke (Norwood, Mass.), Aidan Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.), Katie Swart (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Courtney Walsh (Newburyport, Mass.); sophomores Juliana Golemo (Leicester, Mass.), Sophia Morse (West Bridgewater, Mass.), Jordyn Perry (Nantucket, Mass.), Emma Schoonover (Somerset, Mass.) and Olivia Sheehan (Hanson, Mass.); and freshmen Zoe Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.), Charlotte McElroy (Carver, Mass.) and Kelly Sharkey (Salisbury, Mass.).

Representing the women’s tennis team are seniors Michaela Loring (New Marlborough, Mass.) and Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.); juniors Vanessa Rosa (Taunton, Mass.) and Aleksandra Voitcekhovskaia (Cherepovets, Russia); sophomores Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) and Brianna Venditti (North Smithfield, R.I.); and freshmen Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.) and Erin Lally (Danvers, Mass.).

The five men's tennis student-athletes on the academic honor roll are juniors Darius Desnoes (Ithaca, N.Y.), Colin Lamusta (Lynnfield, Mass.), Jeff Pavao (Somerset, Mass.) and Kendan Zeigler (Hadley, Mass.); and sophomore Charles Fiske (Taunton, Mass.).

All told, 1,805 Little East Conference student-athletes competing in the conference’s 20 championship sports were named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of their academic performance in the spring 2021 semester.

The Academic Honor Roll was one of two new academic recognition programs (along with the LEC Team Academic Awards) introduced by the Little East prior to the 2019 fall season. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), field hockey, women's tennis and men's tennis call the Little East home. The BSU men's and women's swimming and diving teams will join the Little East in the fall of 2021.
