61 Bears Named to Little East Fall Academic Honor Roll

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Sixty-one Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the Little East Conference (LEC) Academic Honor Roll for the fall 2022 semester.

The 61 BSU student-athletes include 17 members of the men's swimming & diving team, 16 field hockey players, 15 representatives from the women's swimming & diving squad, eight members of the women's tennis team and five men's tennis players.

To be named the LEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a fall 2022 semester GPA of 3.00 or better and have been an active member of the team at the conclusion of the season.

Men's swimming & diving student athletes to earn the accolade are graduate student Shawn Driscoll-Gomez (Medford, Mass.), seniors Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) and Thomas Scalese (Chelmsford, Mass.); juniors Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.), Luc Durand (Marblehead, Mass.), Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.), Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.), Barrett Stutzman (Plymouth, Mass.) and Connor Young (Chelmsford, Mass.); sophomores Owen Lasbury-Casey (Mansfield, Mass.), Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.), Chase Simao (Stonington, Conn.) and Cameron Stringfellow (Wrentham, Mass.); and freshmen Alexander Arpin (Worcester, Mass.), Brendan Goff (Plainville, Mass.) and Ryan McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.).

Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are seniors Sophia Morse (West Bridgwater, Mass.), Jordyn Perry (Nantucket, Mass.), Hannah Rolfe (Easton, Mass.) and Bailey Turner (Dedham, Mass.); juniors Zoe Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.), Alexis Giesta (Fall River, Mass.), Carolyn Greendale (Natick, Mass.), Charlotte McElroy (Carver, Mass.), Erin Power (Byfield, Mass.) and Kelly Sharkey (Salisbury, Mass.); sophomore Abby Massarelli (Stoughton, Mass.), and freshmen Noelle Cornetta (Hanson, Mass.), Madelyne Guidaboni (Hanson, Mass.), Olivia Scalley (Whitefield, N.H.), Irianny Solorin (Methuen, Mass.) and Emelia Westwater (Attleboro, Mass.).

Reprsenting the women's swimming & diving team are graduate student Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.); seniors Alex Molinari (Chelmsford, Mass.), Gabriella Rivera (Hanover, Mass.), Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) and Angelina Vuong (Rockland, Mass.); juniors Camryn Beals (Middleboro, Mass.), Jenna Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) and Lily Morrison (Marshfield, Mass.); sophomores Savannah Lavigne (Bridgewater, Mass.), Summer Martin (Norton, Mass.), Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.), Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.), Evelyn Olson (Phillipston, Mass.) and Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.); and freshmen Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.).

The eight women's tennis student-athletes on the academic honor roll are senior Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.); juniors Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.), Erin Lally (Danvers, Mass.) and Abigail Ramer (Sherwood, Ore.); sophomores Rebecca Hamel (Windham, Maine) and Meghan Lotti (Stoneham, Mass.); and freshmen Breanna Cole (East Sandwich, Mass.) and Hannah Higgins (Rockland, Mass.).

Rounding out the Bears' LEC Academic Honor Roll selections from the men's tennis team are graduare student Sean Nutter (Mattapoisett, Mass.); senior Charles Fiske (Taunton, Mass.) sophomore Charles Malinowski (East Bridgewater, Mass.); and freshmen Tyler Barros (Somerset, Mass.) and Adam Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.).

All told, 2,028 Little East Conference student-athletes competing in the conference’s 21 championship sports were named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of their academic performance in the Fall 2022 semester.

The Academic Honor Roll was one of two new academic recognition programs (along with the LEC Team Academic Awards) introduced by the Little East prior to the 2019 fall season. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), field hockey, women's swimming & diving, mens swimming & diving, women's tennis and men's tennis call the Little East home.
