34 Bears Named to Little East Fall Academic Honor Roll

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Thirty-four Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the Little East Conference (LEC) Academic Honor Roll for the fall 2020 semester.

The 34 BSU student-athletes include 15 field hockey players, 11 representatives from the women's tennis team and eight members of the men's tennis squad.

To be named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a semester GPA of 3.00 or better and have been an active member of the team at the conclusion of their fall semester season.

Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are senior Meghan Welch (Hubbardston, Mass.); juniors Jillian Ayers (South Hadley, Mass.), Victoria Camara (Westport, Mass.), ReAnna Kenyon (Carver, Mass.), Aidan Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.), Katie Swart (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Courtney Walsh (Newburyport, Mass.); sophomores Kacia Fontes (Brockton, Mass.), Juliana Golemo (Leicester, Mass.), Jordyn Perry (Nantucket, Mass.), Emma Schoonover (Somerset, Mass.) and Olivia Sheehan (Hanson, Mass.); and freshmen Zoe Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.), Charlotte McElroy (Carver, Mass.) and Kelly Sharkey (Salisbury, Mass.).

Representing the women’s tennis team are seniors Jessica Gaudreau (Hanson, Mass.), Michaela Loring (New Marlborough, Mass.), Emma Mills (Westport, Mass.) and Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.); juniors Vanessa Rosa (Taunton, Mass.) and Aleksandra Voitcekhovskaia (Cherepovets, Russia); sophomores Catie Ledwidge (Somerset, Mass.), Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) and Brianna Venditti (North Smithfield, R.I.); and freshmen Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.) and Erin Lally (Danvers, Mass.).

The eight men's tennis student-athletes on the academic honor roll are senior Matthew Bentley (Bridgewater, Mass.); juniors Colin Lamusta (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Jeff Pavao (Somerset, Mass.); sophomores Darius Desnoes (Ithaca, N.Y.), Charles Fiske (Taunton, Mass.) and Kendan Zeigler (Hadley, Mass.); and freshmen Robert Dwyer (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) and Christopher Ferry (West Tisbury, Mass.).

All told, 1,956 Little East Conference student-athletes competing in the conference’s 20 championship sports were named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of their academic performance in the Fall 2020 semester.

The Academic Honor Roll was one of two new academic recognition programs (along with the LEC Team Academic Awards) introduced by the Little East prior to the 2019 fall season. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), field hockey, women's tennis and men's tennis call the Little East home.
