Christine Kloiber Named Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field Programs

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University Associate Vice President for Athletics and Student Wellness, Dr. Marybeth Lamb, announced today that Christine Kloiber has been named the full-time head coach for the Bears’ men’s and women’s cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field programs.

“I am very excited to have Christine join the Bears,” said Lamb. “I am confident her expertise and leadership of the teams will, no doubt, lead to outstanding achievements for all our runners and athletes.”

“Christine’s history, both as a runner and as a coach, will help to develop the teams to their highest potential, both on the track and off,” Lamb added. “We are all excited for her to join BSU.”

Kloiber comes to Bridgewater State with a wealth of competitive and practical experience in various aspects of the sports. She served as the head coach at Division I Niagara University for the men’s and women’s cross country teams as well as the inaugural women’s track & field team from 2014 to 2022. During this time her men's & women's cross country athlete rewrote the all-time school performance lists while her track & field athletes produced ECAC qualifying performances and all-conference and podium finishes.

Christine was also the head men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field coach at Regis College from 2003 to 2012; where her athletes annually qualified for the New England championship. At Regis, she was responsible for building the first men's team in program history; where one of her inaugural athletes finished 3rd in the ECAC Division III indoor 500-meter. Her capacities also extended to operating as the strength and conditioning coach for varsity teams; and meet director/facility manager for home meet events including the annual Pride Classic, the Bay State Games and the USATF-NE Outdoor Track & Field championship. She’s acted as an athlete’s representative for the USATF-NE board of directors and was the volunteer director for the USA-TF Indoor Track & Field Championship. More recently she has served as part of MAAC indoor & outdoor track and field committee (since 2017).

From 2012-2013, Kloiber served as the distance coach of the Hare & Hounds Running Club of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland while pursuing her Masters in Sport Performance Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University. Kloiber has also earned another Masters in Sport Management from NU.

Christine competed as a varsity athlete on the indoor and outdoor track and field teams at Division I UMass Amherst where she earned her undergraduate degree. She is currently certified as an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, a USA Track & Field Level I Course Instructor, and holds USA Track and Field Level II certifications in  sprints/hurdles/relays as well as the endurance and jump events. Christine is also a Level III/IAAF Elite Coach certification in the endurance events. Her additional USTFCCCA certifications include: Strength & Conditioning, Sports Science for Speed & Power Events; Sprint/Hurdle/Relay Specialist.
