2015 BSU Athletics Awards Banquet

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University Athletics and Recreation Department held its 29th Annual All Sports Banquet on Tuesday, May 5th, honoring various teams and players.

President Dana Mohler-Faria was on hand to present the Dr. Adrian Tinsley Scholar Athlete of the Year awards to Danielle Poto (cross country/track) and Andy Sukeforth (cross country/track).

Former Director of Athletics, John Harper, returned to present the John C. Harper Athlete of the Year awards to standouts Taylor Clancy (lacrosse) and Conor Murtagh (soccer/track).

Other major award winners were Rookies of the Year, Melissa Renauld (lacrosse) and Cameron Williamson (track & field); Lee Harrington Unsung Hero Award recipients, Katharine Trahan (lacrosse) and Charlie MacDonald (swimming); Athletic Training Students of the Year, Ashley Steadman (undergraduate) and Annie Chen (graduate); and the Student-Athlete Leadership Award recipients, Megan Boutilette (basketball) and Connor Foley (track & field).

Also honored were more than 175 student-athletes who maintained at least a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or who earned Dean’s List honors for the fall 2014 semester.  The 2014-15 team captains and senior student-athletes/trainers were honored as well.

Associate Director of Athletics, Michael Storey, announced the Team Academic Award winners. The tennis team had the top grade point average on the women's side checking in at 3.51, while the cross country squad was the men's winner with a GPA of 3.35.

Boutilette was presented with a milestone basketball for scoring her 1,000th career point this past season. Boutilette finished with 1,202 career points as she ranks fifth among the team's all-time leading scorers.

Also in attendance was Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Jason Pina, who presented the Lee Harrington Unsung Hero Award winners as well as the Rookie of the Year awards.

Director of Athletics Dr. Marybeth Lamb, who emceed the ceremonies, presented a BSU Athletics jacket to Dr. Mohler-Faria who is retiring at the end of the academic year.
