Title: Basketball

Joe Wise was the most talked about athlete on the Bridgewater State campus between 1970-73. At that time, Joe was BSC's second all-time leading basketball scorer with 1451 points. He averaged 23.4 points in his career with a season-high of 28.9 points during the 1971-72 season. Wise also held career marks for most free throws and field goals. What is most outstanding about all his records is that Joe achieved them in only three years of play while most of his counterparts had four years of competition.

Following his outstanding collegiate career on the basketball court, Wise was drafted by the NBA's New York Knickerbockers in 1973, a feat no other basketball player or athlete at Bridgewater State College ever achieved. Mr. Wise is currently a minister and resides in Roxbury, MA.
