John S. "Jack" Tripp

Jack Tripp earned nine varsity letters at Bridgewater State College in the sports of soccer, basketball and baseball from 1954-58. In 1957-58 he captained the BSC basketball team. Following his graduation, Jack taught in the Canton school system from 1958-71 where he also coached football, basketball and baseball.

He returned to his hometown of Taunton, MA in 1971 and was the Associate Headmaster at Taunton High School for 26 years, retiring in 1997. Jack coached Taunton High School softball from 1984-1999 and in 16 years his teams qualified every year for state tournament play. They also won 14 Old Colony League championships, four Division I South Championships and were State Champs in 1997. Jack was named Boston Globe Coach of the Year in both 1992 and 1999. His squads won 312 games and lost 57. The new softball field at Taunton High School is named, "Jack Tripp Field."

Jack was also a high school basketball official for 37 years.

Jack is the father of four sons and 13 grandchildren and resides in Taunton with his wife, Lynda.
