Title: Baseball/Soccer/Track

James Hubbard was a three-sport athlete at Bridgewater State competing on the soccer (1956-59), baseball (1956-59) and outdoor track (1957-60) teams, while captain both baseball and track his senior year.  Highlighted in his illustrious career at Bridgewater State, Hubbard was undefeated in dual meet competitions in the 220 and 440-meter races.  At the 1959 New England Teachers College Athletic Conference (NETCAC) meet, he earned silver medals in both the 100 and 220-yard dashes.

Hubbard went on to teach and coach at Abington High School & Old Rochester Regional High School. He also displayed his impressive talents in the Cape Cod Baseball league. Hubbard played for the Yarmouth Red Sox & the Cotuit Kettleers, helping them reach the playoffs in every season that he competed. He went on to become field manager of the Kettleers, guiding them to four league championships as well as the Cape Cod League championship, the Commissioners Cup Series, and the American Baseball Congress (ABC) New England championship in 1964. As a result, Hubbard has the prestigious honor of being elected to the Cape Cod League Hall of Fame for his influential time spent serving as an outstanding player, manager, and general manager. 

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree from BSC in 1960 as well as a Masters of Education in 1965.  He presently resides in Mattapoisett with his wife, Barbara.  They have two sons, James and Stephen.
