Elaine Clement-Holbrook

Elaine Clement-Holbrook played basketball (1972) and softball (1972-75) at BSC. She was the team captain for the softball team in 1975. After earning her undergraduate degree, she continued on at BSC to earn a Masters in Health Education in 1981. "Laney" Holbrook is most known for being one of the top girls basketball coaches in New England at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, MA.

In her 40-plus years of coaching, Clement-Holbrook has seen her OA teams take two state championships and 17 Hockomock League titles. The Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) recognized her as the girl’s coach of the year in 1981, 1982, 2000, 2006, and 2010 as did the Brockton Enterprise and Boston Globe in 2006. Clement-Holbrook was included in the Dedham High School Athletic Hall of Fame inaugural class in 1999. She also received the Dr.Adrian Rondileau Award for Professional Achievement and Community Service in 2017.

Laney, who reached the 600-win milestone in 2013, is the all-time winningest girls high basketball coach in the state of Massachusetts. She eclipsed fellow Hall of Famer Vi Goodnow's former mark of 633 wins on January 26, 2016.

Outside of coaching, Ms. Holbrook was a Biology Teacher at Oliver Ames. She retired from teaching in 2011.
