BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Ashley Schepis has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.

Schepis placed 110th out of field of 218 runners at the 2021 NCAA Division III East Region Cross Country Championships held at Franklin Park this past weekend. The Norton, Massachusetts product covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 27:15.3 as she helped the Bears post a 20th place finish in the team standings.

Schepis competed in all seven meets for the Bears this season. She recorded her top five-kilometer time of 20:46.1 at the 25th Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on October 9th. Schepis posted her top time in a six-kilometer race (26:54.7) at the Western New England Invitational on October 16th.
