Women’s Cross Country Competes at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior Julie Glavin (Weymouth, Mass.) placed 32nd out of a field of 179 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team at the 25th Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday at Stanley Park.

The Bears placed 12th overall in the team standings.  Smith College captured the team title followed by Mount Holyoke College in second place and Williams College in third.

Glavin covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:47.73. Junior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of Mount Holyoke checked in with the winning time of 18:02.12.

Junior Maura Bruns (Franklin, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the line. Bruns posted a time of 20:43.75 to finish 70th overall. Sophomore Ashley Schepis (Norton, Mass.) capped off Bridgewater's top three runners at the meet with a time of 20:46.10. Schepis placed 74th.

Next weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Western New England Invitational.
