Women's Cross Country Places 3rd at Bruce Kirsh Cup

HOPKINTON, N.H. -- Junior Julie Glavin (Weymouth, Mass.) placed tenth to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team on Saturday at the Eighth Annual Bruce Kirsh Cup hosted by Franklin Pierce University at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.

Glavin covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:43.89 as she was the Bears top finisher at the meet which featured 67 runners.

Graduate student Bethaney Donnelly (Manchester, England) of host Franklin Pierce won the meet with a time of 18:03.95.

The Bears placed third in the team standings trailing only meet champion St. Anselm College and host Franklin Pierce.

Also placing in the top 20 for the Bears was junior Maura Bruns (Franklin, Mass.) who crossed the line with a time of 20:27.17 to grab the 20th spot. The next two to complete the course for Bridgewater State were sophomore Elisabeth Sweeney (Marshfield, Mass) and senior Megan Leary (North Attleboro, Mass.). Sweeney placed 23rd with a time of 20:47.21, while Leary checked in at 26th with a time of 21:01.88.

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Westfield State 25th Annual James Earley Invitational held at Stanley Park.
