Women’s Cross Country Places 21st at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior Julie Glavin (Weymouth, Mass.) placed 64th out of a field of 234 runners, which included all three NCAA divisions, to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team at the 48th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.

Glavin completed the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:53.80. Senior Ari Marks (Eagle Point, Ore.) of Wellesley College won the meet with a time of 17:38.90.

The Bears finished 21st in the team standings. WPI captured the team title followed by Brandeis University in second place and WPI in third.

Sophomore Ashley Schepis (Norton, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line as she placed 127th overall with a time of 21:01.00. BSU junior Maura Bruns (Franklin, Mass.) checked in with a time of 21:06.50 to finish 135th overall, while senior Megan Leary (North Attleboro, Mass.) posted a time of 21:58.30 to place 164th.

Following an off weekend, the Bears will compete at the Franklin Pierce 9th Annual Bruce Kirsh Cup on Saturday, October 2nd. The meet will take at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire.
