Danielle Poto Named MASCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --For the sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore Danielle Poto has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Poto was the top MASCAC finisher at the NCAA Division III New England Region Women's Cross Country Championships hosted this past weekend by the University of Southern Maine at the Narragansett School in Gorman, Maine.  The North Andover, Massachusetts native covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 23:18.20 to place 93rd out of a field of 371 runners..

Previously this season, Poto earned MASCAC Runner of the Week honors for each of the first three weekends of the 2013 campaign with a season-best time of 19:45 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 21st.  She also captured the individual title at a tri-meet hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University on September 14th.

Poto also captured back-to-back awards on October 7th and October 14th for her performances at the Tri-State Invitational in Lincoln, Rhode Island and the James Earley Invitational in Westfield.

Two weekends ago at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships, Poto earned both All-MASCAC and All-New England Alliance status for the second straight season.  She placed second to teammate Krysta Zbikowski (Ashburnham, Mass.) in the MASCAC standings and 11th in the Alliance results.
