Danille Poto Named Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the third consecutive week, Bridgewater State University sophomore Danielle Poto has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Poto paced the BSU women’s cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational over the weekend as she completed the five-kilometer course with a time of 19:45 to finish 31st overall.  The North Andover, Massachusetts native helped the Bears place 16th out of 29 schools in the team standings at the meet.

Previously this season, Poto captured the individual title at a tri-meet hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University on September 14th as she completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 20:27.

In the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational on September7th, Poto placed eighth out of 131 harriers as she covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 20:28.12.

During her rookie campaign of 2012, Poto garnered all-conference honors as she placed seventh at the MASCAC Championships.  She also earned All-New England Alliance honors with a 14th place showing at the New England Alliance Championships.

After a week off, Poto and her teammates will compete at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by CCRI on Saturday, October 5th.
