WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Sophomore Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) finished in 51st place to lead the Bridgewater State College women's cross country team at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic this afternoon in Williamstown.
As a team, the Bears placed 15th overall in the 6K race. Host Williams came in first place followed by Middlebury College in second and Amherst College in third.
Hauswirth posted a time of 24:56. Elise Tropiano of Amherst won the meet with a time of 22:01.
BSC's six other runners finished within 20 spots of each other with freshman Diana DeMont (West Springfield, MA) crossing the finish line next for the Bears with a time of 28:07. DeMont finished in 138th place.
Rounding out the remaining BSC runners were Rebeccah Chase (Northfield, NH), Kerri Rooke (Springfield, MA), Louise Comerford (Billerica, MA), Deborah Solorzano (Woburn, MA) and Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, MA).
