Sydney Rice Named to All-MASCAC Volleyball Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior middle hitter Sydney Rice has been voted to the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball All-Conference Second Team by the league's eight head coaches.

Rice is making her second straight appearance on the All-MASCAC Volleyball Team as she garnered first team honors in 2019.

In 17 matches this season, Rice recorded team-highs with 122 kills, a .302 hitting percentage, 32 blocks and 183 points. The Medway, Massachusetts product also added 52 digs and a career-high 41 aces.

Rice led the MASCAC in hitting percentage and ranked second in aces per set (0.67) this season. She also finished sixth among the conference leaders in blocks per set (0.52) and seventh in points per set (3.0).

In 89 matches over four seasons with the Bears, Rice amassed 507 kills, 79 aces, 153 blocks (63 solo) and 130 digs to go along with 36 assists.

The BSU volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 campaign with an overall record of 6-11. Seeded fifth in the MASCAC Tournament with a 3-4 conference mark, the Bears dropped a 3-1 decision to #4 MCLA in the tournament quarterfinal round.
