Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Regis

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Tuesday evening at the Regis Athletic Complex. The Pride won by set scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-17.

Regis improves to 12-4 on the season, while the visiting Bears fall to 4-5.

Junior middle hitter Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) led the Pride with 11 kills on 18 attack attempts without an error for a .611 hitting percentage, while senior outside hitter Valerie Whalen (Stoughton, Mass.) collected nine kills and recorded a .368 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle hitter Kate Montigny (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished with eight kills, a .462 hitting percentage, and five total blocks (one solo), while sophomore right side hitter Tyler Wax (San Diego, Calif.) added 12 digs. Junior setter Karly Sanborn (Gilmanton, N.H.) and senior setter Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) combined to record 33 assists for the hosts.

Senior right side hitter Becca Whalen (Plymouth, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with six kills and three assisted blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Abigail Reardon (Fairhaven, Mass.) notched six kills and a solo block. Senior middle Camille Hanna (Milton, Vt.) matched Montigny with a match-high five blocks (one solo). Junior libero Victoria Caiano (Acushnet, Mass.) led all players with 16 digs and three aces. Caiano, sophomore setter Bethany Votta (Cumberland, R.I.) and junior setter Savannah Quintal (Assonet, Mass.) combined for 22 assists.

Regis posted a team hitting percentage of .301. The Pride also notched ten aces, five serving errors and six blocks.

Bridgewater State struggled on the attack with a .047 hitting percentage. The Bears finished with five aces and five serving errors as well as eight blocks.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to Lasell University on Thursday night for a seven o'clock match with the Lasers. The Pride entertain Simmons University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on Wednesday night also at seven.
