Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England volleyball team swept visiting Bridgewater State University, 3-0, in a non-conference match on Saturday evening at the Harold Alfond Forum. UNE won the match by set scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-17.

The Nor'easters improve to 6-8 on the season, while the Bears fall to 4-4.

UNE posted a .273 hitting percentage and recorded 11 aces with nine serving errors. Bridgewater State struggled on the attach with a .060 hitting percentage. The Bears also finished with five blocks, five aces and four serving errors.

Junior outside hitter Lauren Davenport (Shelburne, Mass.) led the way for UNE with 15 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Davenport also added three aces and five dig. Freshman outside hitter Viktoria Pavlyuk (Westfield, Mass.) notched a match-best 17 kills for the Nor'easters to go along with three aces and an assisted block, while freshman setter Addie Miller (Wilmington, Dela.) dished out a match-high 37 assists and added three aces and seven digs.

Senior right side hitter Becca Whalen (Plymouth, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with eight kills and a .368 hitting percentage to go along with  two assisted blocks and three digs. Senior middle hitter Sydney Rice (Medway, Mass.) added four digs, two aces and two digs, while junior setter Savannah Quintal (Assonet, Mass.) checked in with 12 assists and an ace, and junior libero Victoria Caiano (Acushnet, Mass.) recorded ten digs.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Regis College for a six o'clock match with the Pride.
