Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Win over Lesley

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over visiting Lesley University on Saturday afternoon at the Tinsley Center.

The match marked the home opener for the Bears (1-1) who won by set scores of 25-6, 25-11 and 25-7.

Senior outside hitter Gabryella Serrano (Bridgewater, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with seven kills, six aces, four digs and three assists.

The Bears recorded an impressive 29 aces in the match led by six apiece from Serrano and junior setter Savannah Quintal (Assonet, Mass.).

Quintal and sophomore setter Bethany Votta (Cumberland, R.I) combined for 15 assists. Votta also added five aces.

Senior middle hitter Sydney Rice (Medway, Mass.) checked in with three kills and four aces for the Bears, while junior defensive specialist Alicia Delaney (Brockton, Mass.) notched five digs and three aces. Bridgewater State also received four kills from senior right side hitter Becca Whalen (Plymouth, Mass.) and three kills apiece from sophomore outside hitter Abigail Reardon (Fairhaven, Mass.) and junior outside hitter MackenzieMarie Sullivan (Halifax, Mass.), as well as three aces from sophomore middle hitter Grace Brown (Attleboro, Mass.).

Sophomore outside hitter Megan Lorenze (Concord, N.H.) led visiting Lesley with four kills, four assists, five digs and a pair of aces.

In upcoming action, the Bears open Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play on Tuesday, September 14th when they travel to Fitchburg State University to take on the Falcons at six o'clock. The Lynx (0-1) head to Worcester State University next Wednesday (Sept. 8) night for a seven o'clock match with the Lancers.
