SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) earned All-New England honors to lead the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team on Friday during day one of the Division III New England Championships hosted by Mount Holyoke College.

McDonough placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, two inches (5.23m).

The top eight placewinners in each event at the two-day championship meet garner All-New England accolades.

Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) equaled her PR in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 1.25 inches (5.21m) as she finished ninth in the event.

Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash as she finished second on Friday in the preliminaries with a time of 12.20 seconds. Escalera was just 2/100 of a second off her school record time of 12.18 set last week at the MASCAC Championships.

The two-day Division III New England Championships will conclude on Saturday with events getting underway at 10:00 AM.

The Bears are currently tied for 21st place in the team standings with one point.
