BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Sands placed seventh to earn All-New England honors in the high jump this past weekend at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts native posted a mark of five feet, 3.25 inches (1.61m) in the event as she helped the Bears finish seventh in the team standings at the championship meet.

Sands, who also earned the MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolade three times during the month of April, currently ranks 17th in all of Division III in the high jump.

Qualifying members of the BSU outdoor track & field teams will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held on Friday and Saturday at Bryant University.
