BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth straight week and seventh time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Sands finished 13th in the high jump with a mark of five feet, 5.25 inches (1.66m) last week at the 2022 NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Sands was making her debut at an NCAA Track & Field Championship meet. She recorded her qualifying and career-best leap of five feet, 5.75 inches (1.67m) on April 2nd at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.

Along with her seven MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades, Sands also earned MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors twice this season.
