BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University graduate student Ashley Garvey has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Garvey won a pair of MASCAC individual titles in the hammer throw and discus throw this past weekend at the 2022 MASCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Swenson Field. The Woburn, Massachusetts product posted a career-best mark of 133 feet, two inches (40.58m) in the hammer and 116 feet, two inches (35.42m) in the discus as she helped lead the Bears to their second straight MASCAC outdoor crown. Garvey also placed fourth in the shot put at the meet with a toss of 32 feet, 11 inches (10.03m).

Garvey currently ranks 11th in the East Region in the discus and 14th in the hammer.

Qualifying members of the BSU outdoor track & field teams will compete at the Division III New England Championships held on Friday and Saturday at Williams College.
