BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate student Ashley Garvey has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Garvey captured top honors in the discus throw with a season-best toss of 116 feet, six inches (35.51m) this past weekend at the 36th Annual Eastern Invitational. The Woburn, Massachusetts product also placed second in both the shot put (32'2"/9.80m) and hammer throw (121'9"/37.10m) at the meet.

Garvey currently ranks tenth in the East Region in the discus throw.

The BSU outdoor track & field teams host the MASCAC Championships on Saturday at Swenson Field.
