Women's Track & Field Competes at DIII New England Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Five members of the Bridgewater State University women's track & field team competed on Friday at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College.

Graduate student Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) grabbed top honors in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.54 seconds as she advanced to Saturday's finals. Junior Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) and sophomore Samila Adilas (Randolph, Mass.) also advanced to the finals of the 100 hurdles. McDonough finished fourth in the preliminaries with a time of 15.05 seconds, while Adilas finished eigth with a career-best time of 15.30 seconds. Sophomore Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was 12th (15.52) in the 100 hurdles prelims.

McDonough added a fifth place showing in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash and advanced to Saturday's finals with a time of 12.68 seconds. She also placed 15th in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 5.75 inches (5.33m).

Junior Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) finished 12th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.83 seconds.
