Women's Swimming & Diving Finishes Second at Little East Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University Bears finished in second place at the 2022 Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Bridgewater State recorded 719 team points over the four-day championship meet which concluded on Tuesday. The Bears trailed only Little East champion Keene State College (855 pts.) in the standings.

In post-meet ceremonies, BSU graduate student Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.) was named the Little East Women's Diver of the Year. Wilson captured the LEC individual title in the one-meter diving competition on Monday and placed second on the three-meter board on Saturday. She also earned Little East Women's Diver of the Week honors seven times over the course of the season.

During the final day of competition, senior Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) placed second in the 100 freestyle with a career-best time of 56.76 seconds, while sophomore Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished second in the 100 individual medley with a career-best time of 1:03,57.

The BSU quarter of Maxim, Ranck and seniors Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) and Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) placed third in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:48.78.

Senior Selin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) and junior Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) also added top three performances for the Bears on Tuesday. Marino finished third in the 1,650 freestyle (19:44.63), while Geoffrion placed third in the 200 butterfly with a career-best time of 2:26.93.
