Women's Swimming & Diving in Second Place After Day Two of Little East Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team is in second place after day two of the four-day Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.

The Bears currently have 247 points at the championship meet as they trail overall leader Keene State College (313 pts.).

Sophomore Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed third in the 200 backstroke with a career-best time of 2:16.23.

Ranck swam a leg on the Bears' 200 freestyle relay team along with seniors Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.), Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) and Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.). The foursome placed third in the event with a time of 1:44.43.

Ranck and Vissering also competed on the Bears' 400 medley relay squad along with sophomore Renee Goodale (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and junior Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.). The foursome placed fourth in the event with a time of 4:20.06.

Freshman Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) finished fourth in the 200 individual medley with a career-best time of 2:22.83.

Graduate student Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.) and junior Angelina Vuong (Rockland, Mass.) competed in the preliminaries of the one-meter diving competition. Wilson finished first in the preliminaries with a career-best score for an 11-dive event of 353.20 points. Vuong, who was competing in an 11-dive event for the first time in her career, was fourth in the preliminaries with a score of 205.40 points.

The four-day championship meet continues on Monday morning with events getting underway at ten o'clock.
